Juan Antonio Fernández, the architect of our Experience Center

The idea of having an Experience Center was born from our will to offer greater excellence in our services and the desire to have state-of-the-art facilities. It is a project that was developed after a long process of reflection, with a result that we are very satisfied with.

To carry out this project we had the help of great professionals, such as Juan Antonio Fernández, architect of our Experience Center.

His professional work focuses on the execution of architectural and urban planning projects, where he combines private and public management. He currently works in his architectural firm Fercolan, dedicated to the integral management of projects in the field of architecture, urban planning and building. At the present time they are participating with great passion in two tender procedures for public facilities projects and are involved in several urban land management processes, as well as the development of multiple single-family housing projects and some commercial projects for private clients.

Juan Antonio Fernández is a professional with whom we had already had the pleasure of participating in several projects together. We recently had a conversation with him where we asked him to reflect on his experience in charge of the design of the Experience Center, which we are pleased to share below:

What has your experience been like working with Illusion on this or other projects?

“Working with Illusion is always rewarding. In this project, Illusion has also shown a very high level of excellence, with an integral project of the highest quality installations. Always in constant evolution, adding value to architecture.” 

What was the initial briefing?

“The initial briefing was based on Illusion’s needs program, a company very organized by departments and with very clear management ideas. Victor, in charge of Illusion, told us what the guidelines were in terms of spaces, and that helped a lot to organize the development of the project. Our experience together with the study of all the necessary elements that were incorporated into the project and regulations, led to the development of a rigorous project and we are very satisfied with the result.”

Did you suggest any modifications to the Illusion team’s initial idea?

“In the regulatory framework, we talked about certain spaces that could be on floor -1, at the semi-basement level, and they were moved to that floor. As the project evolved, there were also discussions to make adjustments to the initial program. In the façade, with the conditioning factor of slab heights and access street level, we also conveyed the need to do something simple and elegant, an image that faithfully represents Illusion’s philosophy.”

Did you find any challenges in the project?

“Every project is a challenge for our architectural firm and this one, especially, the new headquarters of Illusion, one of the most prestigious companies in the area, with an important number of workspaces.  We found several challenges; to fit well the program of spaces being generous with the architecture, as well as to solve all the technical constraints with a load of important facilities, such as air conditioning and ventilation, and the main challenge, to meet the needs of Illusion´s present and future, a company with a growth of reference.”

Do you consider that the designed space meets the expectations of the Illusion team?

“Based on the satisfaction expressed to me by Victor, Illusion’s manager, and some of the main technicians and managers of the company, I think that we have achieved our goal of creating a benchmark workplace.”

Did this project present any peculiarities with respect to similar projects?

“The main peculiarity was to solve the program well, and create beautiful spaces, which is the main mission of architecture, with a rational yet functional architecture, and where attention to detail has added a lot to create that magical atmosphere of architecture that represents the new headquarters of Illusion.

I am very grateful to Illusion and, especially, to Victor and Malen for entrusting us with this space of reference and that we have been able to contribute with our work, value to the process. Thank you again.”
