We’ve just returned from ISE Barcelona 2026, and once again, it feels like a necessary pause—a moment to step back and look at the industry with perspective and discernment. For us, attending ISE is not just a matter of scheduling; it is an opportunity to listen, compare, and confirm the direction in which the sector is truly evolving. It is an event that reinforces our conviction: technology only makes sense when it is coherently integrated into spaces and genuinely enhances the way they are experienced. This year, beyond specific product launches, we noticed a clear shift toward more sensitive, architectural solutions that are strongly oriented toward wellbeing.
Lutron: Lighting Control as an Experience
Lutron’s presence was one of the highlights of our tour—not for a single new product, but for the clarity of their vision. The Aviena and Vierti keypads redefine how we interact with light: intuitive, carefully crafted control surfaces that manage scenes and environments naturally, supporting the rhythm of the day and the various ways spaces are used.
This year, the inclusion of Orluna, now part of the Lutron ecosystem, further reinforces this vision from the luminaire itself. An architectural approach redesigned for native control with the brand’s most advanced wireless systems, while also embedding a clear commitment to sustainability. A level of integration that points toward the sector’s evolution: luminaires conceived from the outset to interact seamlessly with the control system, rather than as an added layer.
Natural light control has also evolved, with new textile options for rollers such as the Tre collection, allowing adjustment of light intake, privacy management, and maintaining aesthetic coherence perfectly aligned with high-end projects. The experience at their stand was particularly revealing—a clear demonstration of how well-thought-out lighting directly contributes to wellbeing.
Beyond individual devices, there is a clear commitment to working with light from a broader perspective. The approach seeks homogeneous, balanced, and coherent results, where illumination is not understood as isolated points but as a cohesive system that envelops the space and evolves throughout the day. Control ceases to be an added layer and becomes a tool that structures the lighting experience.
Beyond Light: Image, Sound, and Materiality
In the field of visual technology, Samsung made it clear that the future lies in challenging traditional screen formats and moving toward more architectural, narrative integrations, where the image adapts to the space rather than the other way around. Vertical displays, transparent solutions, and integrated showcase screens stood out, particularly for premium retail and luxury environments, alongside large-format MicroLED surfaces designed as true architectural elements, delivering exceptional image quality and a visual presence tailored to spaces where the image is an active part of the design.
Audio experiences are equally inseparable from high-quality sound. In this regard, Architettura Sonoracontinues to stand out, offering speakers conceived as sculptural elements, with customizable natural finishes and collaborations such as the one developed with Margraf, where marble becomes part of the acoustic and architectural design.
Supporting these experiences, electronics have also evolved. Sonanceintroduced a new generation of amplifiers that enhance control, efficiency, and sound quality in private cinemas and immersive environments.
This year, Bang & Olufsen Marbella received the Interior Solutions Excellence Award, a recognition from Band & Olufsenitself highlighting how excellence in audio and visual experiences can be elegantly and naturally integrated into high-end spaces. A subtle testament to the values shared by Illusion and our approach to creating integrated, immersive environments.
Encounters That Shape Vision
Beyond the stands, ISE is also a space for meaningful encounters. Reconnecting with brands with whom we share a vision of technology, engaging in thoughtful discussions, and discovering new synergies is one of the most valuable aspects of the event.
ISE 2026 leaves a clear takeaway: light, image, sound, and materiality are evolving toward ever more coherent integration, where technology stops being the star and becomes a natural part of the space. At Illusion, we continue to champion this holistic vision, where every technical decision directly impacts wellbeing, experience, and the way spaces are truly inhabited.
